Topic of the day: Bayer CSR event in Beijing

With the government stressing the need for sustainable development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a big buzz word in China. Many multinational copmanies operating in China are creating various CSR programs, aimed at improving China's environmental or social conditions.

Bayer, the world famous pharmacutical company, recently held one of its own CSR events in China. On October 21, 2006, Bayer China held its First Handicapped and Orphan Art Exhibition. The event, which took place in Beijing's Haidian district, not only exhibited art work created by developmentally handicapped children, but also invited children to express their creativity, on site.

Topic of the Day: Published - in print and on the internet!

 

This come a bit late, but if you're in Beijing and pick up this month's issue of That's Beijing, look out for my picture in the Community section! I'm one of the people who answers the montly Q&A's. My answers, looking back, were not as funny as I thought they first were (it was a hard topic - death and dying!!) - but regardless, I'm making my first mark in Beijing's expat community! :)

 

Also, an article that Pierre and I co-worked on (I took the photo, he wrote the article) on a local Beijing NGO, The Dandelion School, just got published in the internet publication, Voices of Tomorrow. As my first assignment, the photos were not as good as they could have/should have been. Alas, hopefully there will be opportunities for improvement in the future!

Topic of the day: A week's visit home, in sum

So the week spent back at home turned out to be pretty pleasant. The whole week was filled with catching up with friends, shopping, eating good food, and spending a lovely weekend in New York City. It was great to catch up with my old friends again, most of whom I haven't seen in more than 2 years.

Also, New York styled pizza and Burger King is wonderful. :)
